![]() ![]() Picking up where the first RCG left off, River City Girls 2 throws hot-blooded high-schoolers Misako, Kyoko, Kunio, and Riki - along with newcomers Marian and Provie - into the fight of their lives when an old foe returns to wreak havoc. The one- or local two-player bare-knuckle brawling is complemented by spectacular 16-bit-style graphics and an epic synth-pop soundtrack (featuring NateWantsToBattle, Chipzel, Christina Vee, and Megan McDuffee!), while the story roars to life via glorious anime cutscenes and manga-style intermissions. The girls can even wield weapons and recruit defeated foes to join them in combat! Along the way, they’ll utilize an arsenal of combos, counters, throws, and special attacks battle an assortment of enemies accept numerous side quests level up with experience points interact with NPCs (including guest stars from past River City games) and shop for a variety of items, food, and gear to boost stats and unlock new abilities. ![]() River City Girls stars Kyoko and Misako, two street-tough high-schoolers who must fight their way through the six regions of River City to rescue their kidnapped boyfriends, series mainstays Kunio and Riki. Marian also bridges the narrowing gap between the Double Dragon and River City series. She was a fan favorite and the obvious choice for one of the new playable characters in the sequel. Players and fans of the series instantly gravitated towards this new interpretation of Marian. Marian’s current River City Girls design showed up in the first River City Girls game in 2019. By popular demand, she’s grown from humble shopkeeper into playable character in RCG2! This is Marian as she appeared in the first River City Girls. Her quick barrage of punches and grappling moves makes her a very unique fighter, but at the same time very familiar. She didn’t want to be pigeonholed as the “slow but powerful wrestler” type. Marian learned the ways of boxing and wrestling. Unsolicited punches to her gut were merely a faint memory of the old Marian. Over the years, Marian has trained her body to reject the kind of physical and mental abuse she has unwillingly received over the past several decades. ![]() No longer is she the helpless victim to these street thugs, villains, and maniacal skeleton wizards. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention that her friends, Billy and Jimmy, fought to the death over who got to date her. Needless to say, she’s had it pretty rough. For many decades she was either publicly assaulted on the streets, kidnapped by a shadowy gang of criminals, held hostage in exchange for magical stones, or straight up gunned down (though she was later resurrected). Marian has a long and storied career as a damsel in distress.
